someone tell the tumblerinas that you can raise an issue without deliberately guilt-tripping everyone about it

okay, I take it back. I don’t think everyone is doing this deliberately. some of it is so deeply entrenched in tumblr culture that you probably don’t always notice you’re doing it

“nobody’s talking about this” -> you can just delete this phrase

“if you can’t reblog this, unfollow me” -> you can also delete this one

“x group can, and should, reblog this” -> remove the “should”. or you know. delete the entire sentence

your post will still spread all the important information without the guilt-tripping parts, I promise

if an otherwise valid post tries to guilt trip me it’s a pass on the rb, sry.

Piers Morgan doesn’t understand that actors are different from the characters they portray onscreen

Reblog if you’d love to see Daniel Craig in an Austin Powers tribute act

girl-of-ink:

The Hollywood creation of “Castle Frankenstein” as the place where Victor creates the Creature is really a shame, as it prevents the wider public from knowing the hilarity of the fact that Victor made his fucked up homunculus in his student housing at the college in Ingolstadt. Imagine you’re trying to get your bachelor’s degree and the chem major down the hall has created a crime against god in his fucking dorm room AND THEN HE LEAVES IT THERE. The creature has to make his own damn way off campus somehow!!!

Which of these bugs occur when you are using the Tumblr post editor and continue to occur at least intermittently?

  1. Pressing “Enter” or “Return” key in the mobile editor to split a block of text in two deletes all text below the cursor.
  2. Undo hot keys delete almost your entire post permanently.
  3. A block of text you highlighted will not delete when pressing Backspace/Delete key.
  4. Links inserted around specific words shift to different words in your sentence after you post.
  5. Highlighting a solitary block of text to format it as indented, bulleted, etc also indents or bullets a separate block of text above or below that you did not highlight.
  6. Difficulty accurately arranging image posts because the highlighted placement keeps jumping around on a hair trigger.
  7. Applied formatting like bold, italics, or small text randomly disappears from the leading word in a sentence.

How often do these bugs happen to you?

All or almost all of these for months or years

Over half of these for months or years

About half of these for months or years

Less than half of these for months or years

None of these things have ever happened to me

Not applicable (I lurk and reblog exclusively)

Some of them have happened but I only noticed them recently/am new here.

Some of them have happened to me but none of these happen anymore.

All of these are issues I experience with the Tumblr post editor intermittently and have for months or even years without any fix.

Celebrating ancient women today on the Bona Dea 🥰🌿

On May 1st, Roman women venerated the goddess Bona Dea (the Good Goddess)! Men were not allowed at these rites, so much of the details, including the goddess’ real name, are lost to history…

May his memory be a blessing.

Willem Arondéus (22 August 1894 – 1 July 1943) was a Dutch artist and author who joined the Dutch anti-Nazi resistance movement during World War II. He participated in the bombing of the Amsterdam public records office to hinder the Nazi German effort to identify Dutch Jews and others wanted by the Gestapo. Arondéus was caught and executed soon after his arrest. Yad Vashem recognized Arondéus as Righteous Among the Nations.

Their attack, which took place on 27 March 1943, was partially successful, and they managed to destroy 800,000 identity cards, and retrieve 600 blank cards and 50,000 guilders. The building was blown up and no one was caught on the night of the attack. However, due to an unknown betrayer, Arondéus was arrested on 1 April 1943. Arondéus refused to give up the rest of his team.

Arondéus was openly gay before the war and defiantly asserted his sexuality before his execution. His final words were:

“Tell the people that homosexuals are not by definition weak.”

From Wikipedia

He was also a pretty great artist
